On occasions the porcelain commissioned is for their own internal use (e.g. hotels) possibly to celebrate an event or anniversary or just to enhance their image .

Commissions can require Rosenthal to complete all the design and manufacturing activities or just the manufacturing activity to a pre-defined design supplied.
